ARTIST STATEMENT
As a young child, I vividly remember spending countless hours watching my parents engage in heated arguments. I witnessed my father verbally, mentally, and emotionally abuse my mother. Their constant bickering created an intolerable and tense atmosphere in our home, making it nearly impossible for me to express myself freely. As a result, I quickly became a shy and introverted child who struggled with asserting myself. I was often afraid of conflict and the potential adverse outcomes that might arise from it. This experience has left an indelible mark on me, and I continue to struggle with assertiveness and confidence in my adult life. This film can serve as an invaluable resource for parents and caregivers who wish to gain a deeper understanding of how children cope with traumatic and abusive experiences from their formative years. The narrative strongly emphasizes the criticality of paying heed to children’s perspectives, concerns, and anxieties. It serves as a poignant reminder of how crucial it is to listen to and comprehend children’s viewpoints, lending a touching insight into their world and experiences.
